Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessments

NDBA are now able to offer BER Assessments & Certification to our clients, on New and Existing Dwellings, and we soon hope to also offer an Assessment & Certification Service for Commercial Buildings.

A Building Energy Rating Certificate is required for all dwellings since 1st January 2009 - previously it was only required for new dwellings for which Planning Permission was applied for on or after 1st January 2007. Therefore all apartments, duplexes and houses of any age bracket now require a BER Cert for sales and lettings, with the only dwellings/ properties that are exempt from this being protected structures (listed buildings). Commercial buildings also require a BER as of 1st January 2009 when offered for sale or let.

Knowledge of the principles of sustainable design and how the Energy Ratings are calculated informs our designs on projects of every scale. As NDBA can now provide the Assessment & Certification Service in-house, we can assist clients at all stages of a project in achieving a building design that will suit the client’s needs while following sustainable principles.

Please do not hesitate to contact the office for further information and to discuss any details of the Building Energy Rating Scheme with us. NDBA are SEI (Sustainable Energy Ireland) Registered Assessors.
