Conservation

Morgan O' Shea graduated from Trinity College Dublin in November 2008 with a postgraduate diploma in Applied Building Repair & Conservation. The course was a year long and covered best practice techniques in the field of conservation today. Morgan also gained an insight into current planning law relating to the conservation of our architectural heritage.

Recent conservation projects completed on-site that Morgan was involved with as Project Architect include the following:

  • the renovation and restoration of Cambridge House, Cambridge Road, Rathmines; a late 19th C. 3-storey house in the Gothic Revival style.

  • the conservation, renovation and extension of 30 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 2; an early 19th C. 3-storey over basement house in the Regency style.

  • the renovation and extension of Cornelscourt House, Old Bray Road, Foxrock, Dublin 18; a large mid-19th C. Victorian house.
  • Morgan is currently Project Architect for the renovation and refurbishment of Dartry House, Orwell Park, Rathgar, Dublin 6 which will provide seven new spacious apartments when the works are completed. Dartry House is a large mid-19th C. 3-storey over basement Victorian house and is a protected structure. Morgan is also involved in a forthcoming planning application for the development of the lands surrounding Dartry House. These proposed works will include the renovation and conversion of the listed stable buildings to provide 8 no. mews houses and the restoration of the listed formal gardens beside Dartry House.
